For security and compatibility reasons, it’s required that the Threema apps run on current OS versions. Besides, the development effort required to offer compatibility with older versions is substantial. For this reason, we need to drop support for older versions from time to time when we release larger updates.
For the current Threema version, the following system requirements apply:
Android 7 or later
iOS 15.8 and up
The desktop app is available for current 64 bit versions of macOS (≥11), Windows (≥10, 21H2), and Linux.
You can continue to use older Threema versions on older Android and iOS devices, but you won’t be able to update to newer versions.
Older Threema versions don’t support all the features newer versions provide, and it’s advisable to install the lastest Threema version whenever possible. Here are the last supported Threema versions for older Android and iOS versions:
Android 5 to 6: Threema 6.1.3
iOS 10: Threema 4.6.18
iOS 14: Threema 5.0
iOS 15: Threema 6.7.1
