Like Threema, Apostrophy is a Swiss company that puts privacy first, doesn’t collect user data, and opposes to Big Tech’s ad-driven business model. Now, the two companies team up to facilitate secure and privacy-compliant mobile communication.
Privacy Meets Usability
Apostrophy develops an Android-based mobile operating system that provides strong privacy protection yet is easy to use. For example, the OS doesn’t contain any Google services, comes with a built-in VPN, and offers a unique and intuitive way to grant app permissions (the so-called “Data Ledger”).
To provide the best user experience and full device compatibility, Apostrophy comes pre-installed on selected smartphones, e.g., the Punkt MC02 (see below).
Now, Apostrophy further strengthens its privacy proposition by including Threema out of the box. This is to say that every smartphone running a current version of the Apostrophy operating system is equipped with the tried-and-tested instant messenger. Users don’t have to go through the hassle of installing the app – nor do they have to purchase a license. They just have to open Threema, generate an ID, and they’re all set for secure and privacy-compliant mobile communication.
Since there are no Google services present in Apostrophy, not the regular Threema version but Threema Libre will be pre-installed. Established in 2008, the Swiss consumer electronics brand Punkt is a pioneer in digital minimalism. Their purpose-built products aim to bring back a sense of intention into today’s all-consuming digital lifestyle.
Threema follows a similar approach in that it focuses on a messaging app’s primary purpose, which is communication, and deliberately avoids unnecessary distractions, gimmicks, and addictive features.
Thus, the Threema app feels right at home on the Punkt MC02, and together with Apostrophy, the Swiss trio forms a perfect combination in terms of privacy, usability, and design.

1. Organizer
The prize draw is organized by Threema GmbH, located at Churerstrasse 82, 8808 Pfäffikon SZ, Switzerland (hereafter referred to as “the Organizer”).
2. Eligibility
Participation in this prize draw is open to individuals who, at the time of entry, are at least 18 years old.
Employees of the Organizer and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
3. How to Participate
To participate in the prize draw, eligible individuals must have access to the Internet, a valid email address, and a valid social media account or valid Threema ID. Access to the prize draw will be given directly from the Organizer.
When participating via LinkedIn, Mastodon, or X, the participants must follow these steps:
Follow the official accounts of Apostrophy, Punkt, and Threema on the respective social media platform;
Share and like the Organizer’s announcement post on the respective social media platform according to specific instructions provided for each platform.
When participating via the Threema app, the participants must follow this step:
Send “punkt” to the Threema ID *THREEMA.
Participants may enter on multiple platforms, but only one entry per platform is allowed. No purchase is necessary to enter the prize draw.
4. Prize Draw Period
The prize draw starts on October 29, 2024, at 2 p.m. CET and ends on November 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. CET (hereafter referred to as the “Prize Draw Period”). Entries received outside this period will not be considered.
5. Prizes
There will be a total of 10 Punkt MC02 smartphones given away, each worth CHF 749, with each participant being able to win a maximum of 1 Punkt MC02 smartphone.
Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other items. The Organizer reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event the specified prize becomes unavailable.
6. Winners Selection
The winners will be randomly selected from all eligible entries after the Prize Draw Period ends. The draw will take place on November 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. CET, and the winners will be notified via the respective social media channel or via the Threema Channel. The winners must respond with an email to the Organizer to claim their prize. If the winners cannot be reached within 7 days of the initial contact attempt, the Organizer reserves the right to draw a new winner randomly.
7. Prize Delivery
The prize will be shipped by the Organizer and delivered to the winners by express courier within 14 days of the winners being notified. In order for the Organizer to ship the prizes, they will need receive and process the winners’ addresses. The Organizer is not responsible for any delays in delivery caused by delivery service.
8. Data Protection
The Organizer processes the personal data collected in the course of the prize draw exclusively for the purpose of conducting the prize draw and sending the prizes to the winners of the prize draw. The processing of personal data is based on the overriding private interest (conducting the prize draw; contract performance) of the Organizer; Art. 31 Sec. 2 lit. a FADP [for EU/EEA: Art. 6 Sec. 1 lit. b GDPR].
Anonymous participation in the prize draw is possible via the Threema ID *THREEMA; only winners must identify themselves to the Organizer for the purpose of sending the prizes. This includes the email address and postal address of the respective winner.
The personal data required for sending the prizes will be deleted as soon as all prizes have been successfully delivered.

9. Liability
The Organizer is not responsible for any damages, losses, or injuries arising from participation in the prize draw or the acceptance and use of the prize, except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence by the Organizer. Any entry tampered with, incomplete, altered, or containing false information will be deemed invalid. The Organizer is not responsible for technical difficulties on LinkedIn, Mastodon, X, with the Internet connection, telephone provider network, or any other transitions throughout the prize draw period.
10. Disqualification
The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant who breaches these Terms and Conditions or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the prize draw in any way.
11. Modifications
The Organizer reserves the right to modify or cancel the prize draw at any time without prior notice, if necessary, due to unforeseen circumstances or events beyond the Organizer’s control.
12. Governing Law
This prize draw and its Terms and Conditions are governed by Swiss law. Any disputes arising in connection with this prize draw will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Pfäffikon SZ (municipality of Freienbach), Switzerland. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Terms and Conditions will otherwise remain in effect. They will be construed following their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein.
