Protected Data even if a Device Is Lost

For companies with the highest security requirements, Threema OnPrem offers a sophisticated new feature: thanks to DualLock, chats are now protected even if a mobile device is lost or stolen.

As a self-hosted communication solution, Threema OnPrem is ideal for companies that want full control over their data and infrastructure. Alongside local encryption, DualLock provides an additional layer of protection, safeguarding chats and data from unauthorized access. If an employee loses their mobile device, the app can be locked via the management cockpit to prevent unauthorized parties from accessing the app and reading chats.

If DualLock is enabled, the local storage of the Threema OnPrem app is encrypted with an additional user-specific DualLock key. Chat content can only be viewed if this key is retrieved from the server when the app is opened. If there is no connection to the server or if the key has been revoked by the administrator (e.g., if a phone is stolen or lost, or if an employee leaves the company), the app cannot be opened. This ensures that no one gains unauthorized access to internal company chats.
