The Information Service is the central communication office of the City of Bern. It is responsible for the public relations of the City Council, the city’s social media presence, the website, the intranet, and the digital staff magazine, as well as for the corporate identity of the city administration.
Interested citizens can receive press releases and voting and election results directly on their smartphone via a Threema Broadcast feed they can subscribe to. Around 400 messages are sent out every year.
Threema Broadcast enables the City of Bern to meet the needs of a politically interested target group that is sensitized to data protection.
Articles from the digital staff magazine MAZ are also sent to around 200 employees via Threema Broadcast.
Michael Sahli
Head of Information Service
Threema Broadcast allows us to inform citizens quickly and efficiently about decisions made by the City Council, information from the administration, and other news from the city.
We chose Threema Broadcast because we wanted to offer an information channel that provides an alternative to the usual social media platforms and doesn’t require users to disclose personal data.
Our Threema Broadcast feed has established itself as a communication channel for the City of Bern and is now used by more than 1,300 subscribers.
During the 2024 municipal elections, the City of Bern also shared the results via Threema Broadcast. Around 1,000 people received the results directly as a push message on their smartphone, accompanied with infographics and links to further information.
