Problems with Push Notifications on Samsung Devices

If you experience problems with push notifications on a Samsung device, please perform the steps listed for your operation system:

Disable Battery Optimization

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Apps”
  3. Select Threema and open “Battery”
  4. Select “Unrestricted”

Remove Threema from Sleeping Apps

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Battery and device care > Battery > Background usage limits”
  3. Disable “Put unused apps to sleep”
  4. Tap on “Sleeping apps”
  5. Tap the three dots in the top right corner and select “Delete”
  6. If Threema appears in this list, select Threema and then tap on “Remove”

Disable Auto Optimization

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Battery and device care”
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right corner and select “Automation”
  4. Deactivate “Auto optimize daily”

Disable “Adaptive Battery”

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Battery and device care”
  3. Select “Battery > More battery settings”
  4. Disable the “Adaptive battery” setting

Disable “Switch to Mobile Data”

  1. Navigate to “Settings > Wi-Fi > Connections”
  2. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner
  3. Turn off “Switch to mobile data”

Disable Power Saving Mode

  1. Navigate to “Settings > Battery and device care > Battery”
  2. Make sure power saving mode is turned off
  3. Tap on “Power saving mode” and turn off “Limit apps and Home Screen”

Disable Battery Optimization

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Apps”
  3. Select Threema and open “Battery”
  4. Select “Unrestricted”

Remove Threema from Sleeping Apps

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Battery and device care > Battery > Background usage limits”
  3. Disable “Put unused apps to sleep”
  4. Tap on “Sleeping apps”
  5. Tap the three dots in the top right corner and select “Delete”
  6. If Threema appears in this list, select Threema and then tap on “Remove”

  2. Tap on “Battery and device care”
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right corner and select “Automation”
  4. Deactivate “Auto optimize daily”

Disable “Adaptive Battery”

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Battery and device care”
  3. Select “Battery > More battery settings”
  4. Disable the “Adaptive battery” setting

Disable “Switch to Mobile Data”

  1. Navigate to “Settings > Wi-Fi > Connections”
  2. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner
  3. Turn off “Switch to mobile data”

Disable Power Saving Mode

  1. Navigate to “Settings > Battery and device care > Battery”
  2. Make sure power saving mode is turned off
  3. Tap on “Power saving mode” and turn off “Limit apps and Home Screen”

Disable Battery Optimization

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Apps” and select Threema
  3. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner and then select “Special Access”
  4. Now select “Optimize battery usage” and then tap “Apps not optimized > All”
  5. Tap the switch next to Threema to disable battery optimisation

Remove Threema from Sleeping Apps

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Battery and device care > Battery > Background usage limits”
  3. Disable “Put unused apps to sleep”
  4. Tap on “Sleeping apps”
  5. Tap the three dots in the top right corner and select “Edit apps”
  6. If Threema appears in this list, select Threema and then tap on “Remove”

Disable Auto Optimization

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Battery and device care”
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right corner and select “Automation”
  4. Deactivate “Auto optimize daily”

Disable “Adaptive Battery”

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Battery and device care”
  3. Select “Battery > More battery settings”
  4. Disable the “Adaptive battery” setting

Disable Battery Optimization

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Apps” and select Threema
  3. Tap on “Battery”
  4. Enable “Allow background activity”
  5. Tap on “Optimize battery usage > Apps not optimized > All”
  6. Tap the switch next to Threema to disable battery optimisation

Remove Threema from Sleeping Apps

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Device care > Battery > App power management”
  3. Disable “Put unused apps to sleep”
  4. Then tap on “Sleeping apps” and remove Threema from this list if applicable

Disable Auto Optimization

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Device care”
  3. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner and select “Advanced” there
  4. Tap the switch next to “Auto optimisation” to deactivate it

Disable “Adaptive Battery”

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Tap on “Device care”
  3. Tap on “Battery > App power management”
  4. Tap the switch next to “Adaptive battery” to deactivate the setting
  1. Navigate to “Settings > Device care > Battery” and tap the three dots in the top right corner
  2. Set all switches to the “off” position in the “App power management” section, but leave the “Notification” switch “on”
  3. Tap “Sleeping apps” and delete “Threema” from the list (if present): tap the trash-can icon, select Threema, and confirm by tapping “Remove”
  4. Set the “Optimize settings” switch in the “Settings power optimization” section to the “off” position
  1. Navigate to “Settings > Device maintenance > Battery > Power saving mode” and turn off “Power saving mode” (or adjust the MID saving mode to enable background data usage)
  2. Navigate to “Settings > Device maintenance > Battery > ... > Advanced settings” and turn off “App power monitor”
  3. Navigate to “Settings > Device maintenance > Battery > Battery usage > ... > Optimize battery usage,” select “All apps” in the drop-down menu, and set the switch next to Threema to “off”
  4. Navigate to “Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi > Advanced” and set “Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep” to “always”
  5. Navigate to “Settings > Apps > Threema > Mobile data” and enable “Allow background data usage”

Future OS updates might reset these adjustments, and you might have to perform the steps listed above again.
