Every summer, the courtyard of the National Museum in the heart of Zurich transforms into an atmospheric open-air stage: Hofkino is more than just a film festival – for 25 days, it combines sustainable gastronomy, an urban summer vibe, and curated cinematic experiences into a unique event. Since 2022, the event has been organized by flick & flavour.
To ensure everything runs smoothly, the core team needs to work closely together – especially during the intensive preparation phase and during the event itself. For reliable, privacy-compliant, and efficient project communication, the organizing committee uses Threema Work.
During the planning phase, the core team and key suppliers use Threema Work to exchange ideas and concepts and to coordinate partnerships.
Shortly before the event, daily briefings on operational decisions take place in dedicated group chats, to which suppliers and service providers also have access. Central user management and the fact that no personal phone number is required contribute to efficient coordination with external partners.
During the event season itself, Threema Work is also used as a broadcasting and information tool for on-site staff – for example, to send out shift schedules, weather updates, visitor numbers, and to coordinate emergency groups for critical situations.

“For an event in the heart of Zurich, it simply feels right to work with a messaging service developed and hosted in Switzerland – especially one that meets all our needs perfectly.”
Since Hofkino consistently focuses on local and regional partnerships, we wanted to apply the same principle to our digital tools.
Implementing Threema Work has made internal communication at Hofkino not only more efficient but also more secure and value-driven.
Within Hofkino’s core team, most communication throughout the year happens via messaging apps – in groups or one-on-one chats. Combined with growing concerns about the data collection of Big Tech, switching to Threema, a service developed and hosted in Switzerland, was the logical choice.
